# Backup & Restore

Back up and restore items using JSON files for migration or recovery.

Each folder and item has a **Key** field. The key is used during import and export for backup and migration. The data grid displays default columns for folder key and item key.

## Open Backup & Restore

Go to the **Coconut Grid Admin Console** tab and click **Backup & Restore**.

## Export Items

**1. Select Items**

Select items from the data grid.

**2. Open Export Dialog**

Click **Export** from the quick buttons. The **Export Items** dialog opens.

**3. Export File**

Click **Export**. A JSON file is downloaded.

## Import Items

**1. Open Import Dialog**

Click **Import** from the quick buttons. The **Import Items** dialog opens.

**2. Select File**

Drag and drop a JSON file into the dialog or click to select a file.

**3. Select Items**

**Available Items** displays items in the JSON file. Click items to select what you want to import.

**4. Choose Import Option**

Choose an import option.

* **Upsert records by key**
* **Create new records in selected folder**

Select **Owner**. This applies only to new items, not updated items.

**5. Import**

Click **Import** to start the process.

## Delete Items

**1. Select Items**

Select the items to delete from the data grid.

**2. Delete**

Click **Delete** from the quick buttons.

**3. Confirm Deletion**

Click **Delete** to confirm.
