# Set Up Related Detail

Create a Grid or Related Grid in the item before adding a Related Detail tab.

## Create a Related Detail Tab

**1. Add a Related Detail Tab**

Click **New Tab** and select **Related Detail**.

**2. Choose a Source Tab**

Select the **Source Tab** from the current item.

**3. Choose a Source Key**

Choose the **Source Key**: `Id` for the source record itself, or a reference field for a referenced record.

**4. Name the Tab**

Enter the **Tab Name**, or use the suggested name.

**5. Save the Tab**

Click **Save**.

The source key list includes accessible, supported record ID and reference fields. A Related Detail tab cannot be used as the source.

## Example: Account Details from Contacts

Choose a Contacts Grid as the **Source Tab** and `AccountId` as the **Source Key**. Focus a saved contact that has an account to display that account's details.

To display the contact itself instead, choose `Id` as the **Source Key**.

## Edit the Tab

Open the tab menu and click **Edit**:

* **Basic** contains the tab's name and identifying information.
* **Relationship** lets you change the **Source Tab** and **Source Key**.

Click **Save** to apply the changes. The fields shown in the detail view come from the Salesforce page layout, rather than a grid column configuration.

See [Tabs](https://coconut-grid.mintlify.site/visualization/tabs.md) for shared tab management and [Item Layouts](https://coconut-grid.mintlify.site/visualization/items.md#item-layouts) for displaying multiple tabs together.
