Edit and Save

1

Focus a Source Record

Focus a saved row in the source grid and wait for the detail record to load.
2

Start Editing

Click Edit in the detail tab.
3

Update Fields

Update the available fields.
4

Save or Cancel

Click Save to save the changes to Salesforce, or Cancel to discard the detail edits.
Editing uses the record’s Salesforce edit layout, which can differ from its viewing layout. Object permissions, field permissions, and layout settings determine which fields you can change. Formula fields, auto-number fields, and the record type field remain read-only. Required fields and Salesforce validation rules are checked when saving. If saving fails, correct the displayed errors and save again. The detail record’s changes are saved separately from pending cell edits in a grid.

Change the Focused Record While Editing

If you have unsaved detail changes and focus a different source record, the detail tab asks how to proceed:
  • Keep Editing keeps the current detail record and its changes open.
  • Discard drops the detail changes and follows the new source record.
  • Save saves the current detail record before following the new source record.

Refresh Record Details

When you are not editing, click Refresh to load the record’s latest saved values. Unsaved edits in the source grid are not treated as saved Salesforce values in Related Detail.
